The impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona if the first in Philippine history to be finished with finality. Although, three (3) government officials has been successfully impeached by the House of Representatives: President Joseph Estrada, Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez and Chief Justice Renato Corona, only Chief Justice Renato Corona was convicted by the Senate. It set a precedent for the country's democratic form of government. The purpose of this study is to provide the Senate a guide that will aid in case a new impeachment case will be filed in Senate. The scenarios included herein may be used for decision-making of the Senate. In such way, the Senate will be more ready to render decisions and to take the best course of action should the same issues, situations or condition arise, thereby, saving on the resources and time of the Senate and of the people who are the real stakeholders in impeachment cases. How this very rare and important occurrence in the Philippine history was handled will also provide understanding and lessons to the international communities, historians, political analyst and legal experts. The judgement of the Impeachment Court in this case is far-reaching and precedent-setting and has built a new framework on transparency and accountability. The impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona was one of the biggest challenges that the Senate, its members and the whole nation have experienced. The impeachment process undertaken by the Senate was peculiar and difficult considering that the Philippines is young in terms of impeachment cases.
