<br/><br/> Newborn screening program is one of the vital programs of the Department of health that screened five common inborn errors of metabolism. The early detection and timely screening of newborns for inborn errors of metabolism could help prevent catastrophic outcome. The Department of Health sets 85% as the national target of the newborn screening. In the local setting, specifically in Municipality of San Enrique the newborn screening started in 2009. Since the time of its implementation the coverage was below the national target. Numerous problems were identified in the implementation of Newborn Screening Program in Municipality of San Enrique.  Focus Group Discussion, social marketing strategy, health promotion, creation of policy on newborn screening, and training of human resource for health on newborn screening program were tackled by the author to address the problems in implementation of Newborn Screening Program in Municipality of San Enrique. As a result, the Newborns screened increased form baseline of 43% to 94%. Furthermore, budget was allocated for newborn screening program. In terms of governance, the executive and legislative body formulated a policy on mandatory newborn screening. Lastly, the ten rural health midwives were trained on newborn screening program and procedures.  Therefore, this study has been successful in improving the implementation of newborn screening program in the Municipality of San Enrique.
