520 _aThe re-entry project (ReP) attempted to provide the Indigenous Peoples particularly the Mangyans, of Barangay Manaul, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro, with important information on civil registration and bringing the civil registration services closer to the people through the creation of the barangay civil registration desk. Aside from generation and compilation of statistics, the NSO is also mandated to carry out the Civil Registry Act or Republic Act 3753. Thus, the ReP is a project that directly concurs with NSO's mandate with regards to civil registration. The ReP is mainly focused on the three activities - conduct of information and education campaign, conduct of mobile registration, and establishment of barangay civil registration desk. These three activities already address the top three problems of unregistered births, specifically - negligence, lack of awareness, and high cost of registration fees (fees were waived during mobile registration). Information dissemination was conducted by the project team on January 22 and 23, 2014 for the barangay officials and sitio leaders, respectively. A mobile registration was conducted on February 6, 2014 in coordination with the barangay council, LCRO, and NCIP. The barangay civil registration desk was created in Barangay Manaul on February 13, 2014 in close collaboration with the barangay council and LCRO. Some municipal department representatives were invited to attend the launching. Prior to the launching, the barangay official were given training on the accomplishment of the birth certificate from and how to encode the birth information using the Philippine Civil Registration Information System (PhilCRIS).
