520 _a"Follow that food" or the farm to fork continuum principle in ensuring food safety along the supply chain has dictated how government and private sector alike implement food safety programs, particularly Good Agricultural Pactices (GAP). The implementation of the re-entry project (ReP) focused on addressing the unavailability of technical assistance, is instrumental in increasing the number of adopters of GAP standard at the farm thereby, enabling farmers attain 'GAP certified' status, and enhancing their market competitiveness. The establishment of the Regional Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Teams was piloted in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions I, III, IVA, X and XII, following the four (4) project phases with identified deliverables for each phase. Throughout the ReP implementation, the project encouraged cost-sharing mechanism between the implementing agency and the regional cooperators. As a result of this mechanism, there were several notable changes in the methodology for implementing planned activities. From these modifications, the best practices were identified and catalogued to determine the best model for the establishment of RGTs in the country. Although there were several challenges faced during the project execution, there were also facilitative factors to its accomplishment. In conclusion, the ReP with its objective of enhancing the competitiveness of Filipino farmers in light of the globalization of food trade, and further localization of world market is citizen-centric, collaborative, relevant, innovative and visible.
