520 _aThe Re-entry Project (ReP) Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) Manual for the newly acquired Philippine Navy (PN) Landing Craft Heavy (LCH) Vessels aimed to prevent the probable likelihood of breakdown or malfunctioning machineries and equipment of PN LCH vessels, thus sustaining the "Ready-for-Sea" level of operational status of said vessels. LCH vessels were procured by the PN in support of the AFP and national government's thrusts in enhancing the government's capability in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) to ensure faster service delivery to Juan and Juana Dela Cruz should destruction from natural disasters occur. However, these vessels were turned over by Australia to the Philippine Government without a preventive maintenance system. Given that, likelihood of malfunctioning or breakdown of machineries might also happen to these vessels as what has customarily happened to the old existing PN vessels. To prevent such incident, the ReP PMS Manual for PN LCH Vessels was established. The manual has to be religiously followed and properly implemented by the ship's crews. Additionally, to ensure sustainability of implementation of this preventive maintenance system, a sustainability mechanism containing the procurement of spares needed for PMS works and conduct of training for PMS activities were included in this framework. The preservation of the upkeep of machineries and equipment of PN LCH vessels would prevent downtime of said vessels (Not-Ready-for-Sea). Thus, their utilization in delivering services to Juan and Juana Dela Cruz during natural disasters and performing logistical missions to various AFP units will be maximized.
