520 _aProvision of rapid emergency medical response and prevention of loss of life are crucially becoming the government's concern as the Philippine's health sector challenges and vulnerability to disasters and emergencies have seriously increased over the past years. Out-of-hospital medical care and transport of patients with illnesses and injuries improve the survivability of individuals. Accordingly, emergency medical service which includes air ambulance must extensively be provided to all Filipino. The 505th Search and Rescue Group has the core competence of providing a contemporary air ambulance service that only a few knew existed. On the other hand, DOH has the essential responsibility of maintaining equitable quality health for all Filipinos which includes health emergency management. Through the Inter-Agency Operation for the Utilization of Air Ambulance, these agencies collaborate in improving the accessibility for a rapid prehospital care and transport of indigent patients to a definitive health care facility. The project was realized in DOH Regional Office 4B (MIMAROPA) through the completion of the following activities: creation of a communication protocol between the said agencies; capacity building for DOH personnel on helicopter landing zone identification and preparation, and helicopter marshaling; identification of preferred landing zones in the provinces; information and awareness campaign of the service to all public hospitals; simulation exercise of a medical evacuation; and the drafting of the Memorandum of Agreement to guarantee and sustain the partnership. This Re-Entry Project proved that enhanced and innovative delivery of social services can be done through deliberate interaction and sincere collaboration among government agencies. This even signaled a purposeful and unconventional endeavor for partnership between the defense and health sector in providing inclusive development for the people.
