520 _aThe study is a qualitative descriptive type, in which the main objective is to control the comorbidites of hypertension in Bacong, Negros Oriental. A total of forty four known hypertensive individuals were interviewed. Most of the hypertensive clients were female. Forty four percent were have normal BMI. The remaining percentages are overweight, underweight and obese. Eighty percent demonstrated their fair knowledge of the complications of disease. However, only a few knew about its pathophysiology, risk factors, and co-morbidities. Majority of the correspondents were exposed to secondary smoking, although most of them are non-drinkers, 100% of the respondents agreed that they should have proper exercise in order to achieve a normal BP and a healthy lifestyle. Only 12 (34%) are doing minimal walking. Fifty- five percent are non-compliant to hypertensive diet restriction. Thirty- three (75%) of the respondents were not aware that they have hypertension even though they are currently taking medications, since they believe that once their blood pressure decreases, they are already cured. Strong local government support is one of the foundations to achieving positive health behavior towards hypertension.
