520 _aBecause of the increasing number of infant deaths in Alcoy, Cebu, and its association to home deliveries was the reason behind why the researcher conducted a study to know the reasons behind home deliveries in the municipality. A descriptive study was done to mother s who gave birth in the past 2 years. In depth knowledge using questionnaires and interview to the participants was done. IT was known that Obstetric variables like previous experience of home deliveries and increased number of pregnancy is associated in choosing another home delivery. also, geographic or the distance from the main birthing center is a factor why mothers opted to have home deliveries. Though these findings, interventions directing to address these problems were given priority. Efforts were done like allocating budget for the completion of the birthing center situated in the farthermost barangay, hiring of a midwife to be assigned in that barangay and implementation of an ordinance promoting safe motherhood by prohibiting home deliveries were done to solve the problem.
