Summary: Tuberculosis remains as a major cause of morbidity and mortality in many countries, making it a significant health problem worldwide. In the Philippines, Tuberculosis is considered as on of the infectious diseases and currently is being given attention. Data from WHO shows that from 2003 to 2011 a total of 4,638,939 TB symptomatic were examined with direct sputum smear microscopy DSSM, 29.74% of whom were diagnosed with TB all forms and given appropriate treatment. The National Tuberculosis Control Program was created to develop TB control policies, standards and guidelines, formulate the national strategic plan and provide assistance to the lower health units. The Directly Observed Short Course or DOTS was adopted by the program, as its main strategy which aims to provide quality assured bacteriology to patients, provide and ensure standardized treatment with patient support, patient and program monitoring and ensure political will. Health care providers and facilities are mostly located in urban areas, leaving those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas GIDA, with high population to health care provider ratio DOH, 2006. Dumaran is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Palawan. This municipality was observed to have a low case detection rate for the past 5 years. This project strategies were identified to address the gaps in the implementation of the program in order to create a more responsive community DOTS program. The community based tuberculosis program through enhanced Implementation of Community based TB DOTS, in partnership with the LGU and PHO for the DetecTB is an effective strategy to increase the case detection rate in Dumaran, Palawan. Strategies done were include intensified IEC, capability building fod CVHW and midwives, adaptation of the electronic data keeping IT IS, Philhealth accreditation of the TB DOTS facility for additional funding, and lobby for continuous support to the tuberculosis program from the LGU.
