520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Malnutrition remains to be a challenge in the 21st century despite development in the agricultural, economic and health sectors. The ill effects of malnutrition are more pronounced in the extremes of ages particularly in early childhood. Generally, this study aims to establish co-ownership of the problem of child undernutrition in barangay 04, Jipapad, Eastern Samar.Specifically, it aims to: determine the perception of barangay officials and barangay healthcare workers on the problem of malnutrition in the barangay;identify the process involved in the co-ownership of the problem of child undernutrition in the barangay; and determine what emerged as the shared vision and mission from processes of co-ownership. The design of the study is descriptive of the process of co-ownership, the second element in the Bridging Leadership framework. Results showed that barangay officials and healthcare workers in Barangay 04, perceived the problem of child undernutrition as mainly caused by basic determinants such as sociocultural and political-economic factors. The processes involved in co-ownership are the following: engagement mechanisms through barangay consultation and convening stakeholders; multistakeholder processes/trust-building dialogue and new relationships among stakeholders. Modules on concepts such as Health, Development, Community-Based Health Program, Leadership Development, Meeting Facilitation and Planning workshop were conducted. The shared vision and mission that emerged after the process of co-ownership is the Actions Towards the Prevention of Malnutrition (ATAMAN) Program which aims to encourage appropriate feeding and weaning practices among caregivers of undernourished children as intervention for the prevention of undernutrition in the barangay. This becomes the platform to begin the next step in the bridging leadership process, the process of co-creation. By strengthening the leadership and governance element of the barangay health system through the process of co-ownership on the problem of child undernutrition, barangay leaders and healthcare workers are now empowered in managing the problem child undernutrition in the barangay.
