Summary, etc. Dengue and Chikungunya viruses are prevalent mosquito-borne viral diseases affecting over a million worldwide. Both have been major public health problems in the tropics and subtropics. Dengue and Chikungunya share similar symptoms, and both are transmitted by Aedes mosquito. The eradication of these diseases is focused towards community involvement on vector control. This study works on triggering community initiatives to decrease cases of Dengue and Ckikungunya by enhancing the capacity of Barangay Health Workers as front-liners for case detection, referral and community mobilization. It introduces a guide for Barangay Health Workers to teach them how to recognize possible case, do referral of identified case to a health facility and encourage community activities that direct toward the elimination of mosquitoes and eventual decrease in Dengue and Chikungunya cases. Results of the study showed that a guide for Barangay Health workers in recognizing Dengue and Chikungnunya increases their awareness about these diseases thus facilitates prompt referral and educes community actions for prevention and control of the disease spread. This study impose a start to improve the Disease Surveillance, Monitoring and Disease eradication activities in the municipality.
