Summary, etc. | Mental health represents a critical indicator of human development, serves as a key determinant if well being, quality of life, and hope, has an impact on a range of development outcomes, and is a basis for social stability. This paper intends to establish a Community based Mental Health Program in the Municipality of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro. The author employed a descriptive study design which is both qualitative and quantitative methods to yield knowledge, policies and paradigm shift in the field of mental health. Document analysis and Focus Group Discussion has showed the prevalence of mental illness and has changed the current practices of mental health service delivery in the municipality. Integrating Mental Health services in the municipality. Thus, the management and treatment of mental disorders in primary care is a fundamental step which is enables the largest number of people to get easier and faster access to service even in settings where resources are scarce. Instituting mental health care is a social, political, and institutional process that engages many contributors, interest group and organizations. Commitment is needed from all partners to respond to this urgent public health need. |
