520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Malnutrition is a multifactorial problem in poor communities. Its solution therefore, should involve a multisectoral approach to address its multifactorial causation. This study involved the different sectors of the local government unit which are the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health to merge their efforts in reducing the prevalence of malnutrition in Pagsanghan, Samar in a truly multisectoral approach. After a year of program implementation, the efforts fell short as the prevalence of malnutrition continued to increase as shown by the Operation Timbang surveys in 2015. This confirms that indeed, malnutrition is a multifactorial problem and aside from the factors addressed in the study, future efforts should also address other issues simultaneously in order to achieve a positive impact in the malnutrition rates in Pagsanghan, Samar. |
