520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Danglas, is a 5th class municipality located in the western part of Abra with a land area of 16,250 hectares. The municipality is mainly rural and politically subdivided into seven barangays namely Abaquid, Cabaruan, Caupasan, Danglas, Nagaparan, Pangal, and Padangitan. The low coverage of fully immunized child has been a problem of municipality since 2011 despite the effort of the national government in providing enough vaccines to address the needs of the population. The national target of Fully Immunized Child is 95% but the municipality attained only 37.39% in 2011, 79.41% in 2012 and 29.14% in 2013. The goal of this action plan and project is to increase Fully immunized Child (FIC) Coverage in Danglas, Abra bby implementing Catchment area -- based Immunization Approach. This study specifically aimed to know the status if FIC coverage in seven barangays from the period of January 2014-December 2014. Another objective is to cover more than 50% of the target children for FIC after 6 months of implementation. Baseline data were obtained through document analysis by referring to the Target Client List (TCL) accomplished by the Rural Health Midwives. The municipality has a total of 33% (45) out of 132 target clients for FIC coverage for the year 2014. The low coverage of FIC in the municipality are seen to be caused by factors such as inaccessibility of the rural health unit, missed opportunity in giving vaccines to target clients and misconceptions of parents regarding immunization was implemented in all 7 barangays of the municipality. Each barangays has it's own assigned catchment area with designated nurses, midwives and day of immunization. The catchment area based immunization addressed the issues of inaccessibility to immunization coverage, misconceptions of parents regarding immunization and missed opportunity in giving vaccines to the target clients. With this strategy an improvement in the Fully Immunized Child (FIC) coverage was seen in this study. The project was able to achieve more than 50% of the target clients for both actual and national target for immunization during 6 months implementation. A policy recommendation in adopting the catchment area based immunization and requiring the population to avail EPI services must be passed. This study can also be a tool for the Department of Health to review the set national target for FIC coverage due to the presence of discrepancy in the actual number of targets in the municipality.
