520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The municipality of San Quintin, Abra is a 5th class municipality which has a comparative good health status. Having a relatively small population and a supportive Local Government Unit , it is now geared towards sustainability measures through responsibility sharing in the aspect of health promotion utilizing the concept of multi- sectoral coalition development. Through a series of document analysis, direct observation, consultative meetings and key informant interviews, the researcher was able to organize a coalition as an initiative to involve the different community sectors in taking accountability towards promoting health through the responsibility shared to the key leaders in the health sector, schools, socio- economic organizations and religious sectors. Sectoral health promotion needs assessment, planning, implementation monitoring and evaluation was performed by the members of the health of the community per se. The establishment of the coalition instigated an action- oriented partnership through the collaborative efforts of the health, local government, education, socio- economic and religious sectors. Coalition interventions were specifically aligned with the WHO's Health Promotion Framework key action areas to build healthy policies, create supportive environments, reorient health municipal level. Vital to the coalition's functionality are the continuous action- oriented partnership of its members and the support from the local government unit and health stakeholders. The shared responsibility to the members shared constituted health promotion principles to attain organizational and system change. Its ability to constantly adapt to the changing dynamics of the local health system will be a significant challenge in its quest to establish a community where health promotion's vitality is given sufficient significance. |
