520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The passage of Republic Act No. 10533 otherwise known as the "Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013" gave rise to the basic education reform in the philippine educational system. This includes the two year Senior High School Program at the secondary level. Prior to SHS Program implementation , the Department of Education (DepEd) has implemented Modelling School Program to selected technical-vocational and general secondary schools nationwide. (DO 36, s. 2012). However, from among the identified model schools, Donsol Vocational High School in the Schools Division of Sorsogon Province, Region V was not included. That reason did not stop Mr. Alex A. Rodriguez, Secondary School Principal I of Donsol VHS from realizing the vision he has created, fueled by his passion to provide better future to the out-of-school youths. This courageous move has generated support from internal and external stakeholders and has produced significant gains that made K to 12 Curriculum implementation, remarkable. Mr. Rodriguez is equipped with the relevant educational qualifications and trainings necessary in performing his functions as a transformational leader and change manager of a Technical-Vocational school. Bass' Transformational Leadership Theory and Kotter's Change Management Model prove to be significant on the management case under study. The former is regarded as an approach in leading people and the latter is a procedure on how activities and tasks are managed. When these two models interplay, the desired change is not far fetched. The researcher has conducted actual visit to the school, and interviewed the teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents and most of all, Mr. Rodriguez himself. Documents-based data gathering was employed. The qualities of a transformational leader and change manager were evidently shown in the accomplished tasks and activities based on a timeline. The four areas of specializitation offered were based on the expertise of teachers and the available facilities and equipment. Thou tourism yielded significant gains as the local industry, the school has no manpower with tourism expertise. Hence, the students completed their Immersion Program in the nearby provinces or cities to Sorsogon. Significantly, after the first SHS Graduation on April 1, 2016 ,36 out of 75 or 48% of the graduates had related job, 13 or 17.34% pursued college education at the newly-opened Donsol Community College and the rest of the graduates had no data available to track them. Furthermore, Donsol VHS was able to assess its readiness and confidence in the nationwide implementation of SHS Program as it has already forged partnership with different industry partners, other government agencies, LGUs and NGOs. In additioon, Mr. Rodriguez has been invited as a resource speaker in the Regional School Heads Development Program to share the best practices of Donsol Vocational High School. As a result, 50 out of the 52 schools which implemented SHS in SY 2016-2017 had TVL offering This management case wished to convey to its readers, especially to school leaders and managers that in effecting change, they must prossess the quality of a transformational leader and change manager to be able to adapt to change by Creating and communicating vision with urgency: having a Heart full of passion; Aspiring to inspire others to act; Nurturing new begginnings to sustain them; Growing in greater heights; and Evolving constantly and learning to accept challenges continuously.
