Summary, etc. | The Inter-School Advocacy Against Abuse, Violence, and Exploitation on children (iSAVEchildren) Project was an intervention to ensure the functionality of Schools Child Protection Committees (SCPC) in the elementary schools of the Philippines education department. Is also enhanced the Project BULIG implemented in the Schools Division of Sorsogon which provides assistance to schools in creating a safe, child-friendly, and motivating environment. It provided technical inputs in using positive discipline and creative pedagogy in the classrooms through capability building activities for teachers, and enhancing advocacy efforts on child protection which include, orientation-seminar on the utilization and implementation of the Manual on Positive Discipline in Everyday Teaching as well as training-workshops on the use of pedadogical approach in handling and managing classes creatively. The iSAVEchildren project gathered school personnel, learners, parents, and local officials in a forum and convention where experts on child rights and child protection discussed the nitty-gritty of different policies that go beyond the content and legal interpretation of the laws and guidelines. Moreover, the iSAVEchildren provided a venue for the collaboration of government agencies, school clubs, and organizations, as well as the Non-Government Organizations putting forward different activities to make sure that children are protected from any types of abuse, reduce vulnerabilities, as well as to improve human capabilities. A monitoring and evaluation tool was also designed ensuring sustainability of the project more so the systems and procedures in handling cases of violence against children as well as mechanisms on the appropriate referral, reporting, and documenting child abuse incidence in the schools and in the community as a whole. Furthermore, iSAVEchildren gave an opportunity for child protection advocates such as teachers, learners, and parents to express their willingness and enthusiasm to help end child abuse in schools, homes, and communities through the creation of storybooks, and crafting of slogans advocating child protection. It further provided a venue for the SCPCs to exhibit their good practices in their respective schools. Crafting and signing of the Commitment Statement further highlighted the iSAVEchildren project. The love for children and saving the lives of the new generation was the common motivation of the different stakeholders of this project as advocates of child protection. Moreover, the success of the iSAVEchildren project was made possible through the commitment and dedication of the Project Team with the guidance of DepEd official and the strong partnership with the stakeholders. |
