Description: 59 leaves : illustrationsSubject(s): Dissertation note: Public Management Development Program Middle Managers' Class Thesis (MMC)--Development Academy of the Philippines. Summary: The generation of statistics through censuses and surveys is a government investment. The return of this investment is maximized in the form of a widely disseminated statistics as inputs for rational planning and policy making at the national and local level. While there is already a wide range of statistical data and indicators which are regularly posted and published through the NSO website, there is still a need to address a great number of customized requests for sector-specific and disaggregated statistics at the local level. Moreover, there is a wealth of census/survey microdata that can be explored to satisfy the needs of customers for disaggregated statistics at the local level, thus, this ReP attempted to address through the institutionalization of a Juan Click Info Center in the field office. Considering the wide range of statistical and other services mandated to NSO, the implementation of the Juan Click NSO Info Center was divided into four components, each is being implemented by one NSO PMDP-participant. This particular Project Component delved on the dissemination of industry-based statistics and microdata from the results of various censuses/surveys and other administrative-based data sources. The first three months implementation of the ReP has successfully achieved the following intended results: (1) completion of the required physical set-up of the Juan Click NSO Info Center in the pilot province, (2) increase in the quantity and variety of sectoral statistical information as a result of the Info Center's acquisition of more disaggregated industry-based statistical tables from the NSO Central Office, including administrative-based data from other data-producing agencies; (3) establishment of procedures and Terms of Reference (TOR) for quicker and easier access to industry-based census/survey microdata from the NSO Central Office database to cater customized requests for small-area and disaggregated statistics at the local level; and (4) launch of the Info Center through IEC activities to with the target customers and stakeholders. These included outputs were achieved through collaboration in the form of Focused Group Discussions (FGD) with the subject matter specialists of concerned Departments at the NSO Central Office (Industry and Trade Statistics Department and Information Resources Department), as well as with concerned units of the NSO Region I and La Union Provincial Office. Moreover, IEC activities such as Information Dissemination Forums with the target customers and stakeholders, including the local media, were conducted regarding the establishment of the Juan Click NSO Info Center, especially the availability of industry-based microdata for the customers' local data needs. After the three-month initial implementation of the ReP, it is intended that the outputs of the other three project components will be integrated to have a bigger impact and deliver quality service to target customers at the local level. Moreover, it is envisioned that the results of the project will lead to the further development of more customer-oriented statistical products and services in the field offices. The success of its implementation in the pilot provinces can also be replicated to other NSO provincial offices throughout the country. It is also proposed that after the outputs of the other three project components are combined and replicated in other NSO field offices, the Juan Click NSO Info Center can be possibly linked, together with eCensus, as another public access point of the Community eCenter (CeC) Program to reach more customers at the grassroots level.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
