Summary: The general objective of this study was to asses the status of management of patients with mental disorders in Cateel District Hospital. Specifically the study aims to identify gaps in implementing a mental health program in Cateel District (CHD); assess the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) on mental health; determine the eddect of giving an information, education and communication (IEC) program on the KAP of health workers of CDH. Problem Tree Analysis was done to assess the gaps in implementing a mental health program in CDH. Knowledge Attitude and Practices (KAP) on mental health questionnaire was used to assess the KAP on mental health of health care workers in CDH and would serve as a pretest data. A FAST and FIRST analysis was done to determine which strategy is to be implemented in improving the KAP on mental health of health care workers in CDH. The same KAP on mental health questionnaire was used after giving an IEC on Mental health to determine its effect. Results showed that the identified gaps in the study were the lack of knowledge and training of healthcare workers and poor referral system. The knowledge, attitudes and practices on mental health of health care workers in CDH were poor. The strategy identified in improving the knowledge, attitudes and practices on mental health and mental disorders. Administering an Information, Education and Communication material on mental Health among health care workers of Cateel District Hospital increased their knowledge, attitudes and practices on Mental Health.
