Summary: To achieve a low maternal mortality rate of less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030 is one of the global missions under the Sustainable Development Goals. A health approach in its attachment is to increase facility based delivery rate. The objectives of the study were to identify the gaps and to implement strategies in integrating barangay health care program to increase facility based delivery. The primary gaps identified in Barangay Health Workers' Program in Tigbao were lack of supervision, training and incentives. Thus, strategies which focused on workforce development, strengthening of financing mechanism, governance and leadership were implemented to improve maternal health care delivery. The integration of barangay health workers through the strategies in maternal health care program has contributed to the over-all improvement in the Barangay Health Workers' Program and the delivery of maternal health care services particularly in their tasks in advocacy, monitoring and referral of pregnant and postpartum mothers. This has gradually increased the rate of facility based delivery in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur.
