Summary: Buldon is a fourth class municipality in the province of Maguindanao. It is a mountainous area with 15 barangays. Four of the barangays are categorized as Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area. A major gap and challenge in the municipality is the low status on maternal health, specifically on Skilled Birth Attendance. This study aimed to improve the Skilled Birth Attendance in the municipality. Though observations, review of records and reports, focused group discussions and key informant interview, factors contributing to low skilled birth attendance were identified. These are the poor health seeking behaviour of the pregnant women. lack of health facilities, lack of health workforce holding a plantilla item, Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas, presence of Traditional Birth Attendance, lack of health education, no LGU support on health and poverty. After the identification of factors, strategies were formulated and implemented. There was a noted increase in the Skilled Birth Attendance after the strategies was implemented. the different stakeholders involved in the study should continue their support and continue the strategies to sustain the project.
