Summary: The purpose of the study was to examine the prospect of using Football Sports Program foe the youth in Strengthening Dengue Awareness in Umingan, Pangasinan specifically this study aimed to determine the level of awareness on dengue before and after the conduct of a Football Sports Youth Program. Another aim is to determine strategies that can be applied in strengthening dengue awareness through a sports-based youth program. Finally, to determine measures to sustain the Football Sports-Youth Program in Umingan, Pangasinan. the scope of this study will only include the youth, aged 10-19, whose interest emanates form playing the sport of Football. The study was a qualitative, descriptive type of research that employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. Document analysis of the Field Health Servces Information System (FHSIS) and the Disease Surveillance Report (Dengue) of the Regional Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit (RESU) of SHD-Ilocos, key-informant interview of the Municipal Health Officer (MHO) and a pre-test and post-test Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices (KAP) survey adopted from Shuaib et al (2010) was administered to target population. A convenience sample of thirty two (32) students, aged 10 -19, who were part of the football varsity team from three participating school in the municipality of Umingan, Pangasinan were examined. Frequencies and percentages were used for analysing the selected socio- demographic data while mean and median were used to assess responses of the respondents on the questionnaire. The data form the questionnaire were coded and entered into a computerized data base and analysed using SPSS, version 14. Paired t test was utilized to determine significance of correlations between the pre-test and the post-test after the intervention. A p-value of equal to or less than 0.5 was considered statistically significant. Results showed that there was a significant change in the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices on Dengue awareness of the participants after the conduct of the "Dengue Kugtaran, para iti Salun-at ti Umingan" Football program and Social Marketing strategies like incorporating Practical Football Sessions with themes related to Dengue awareness among the targeted group, improves the retention of the participants with the same strategies given by the National Government, namely, 4S strategy and the 4 o'clock habit. Measures to sustain the new strategy includes: policy adjustment, inter-sectoral partnership and collaboration. accreditation and institutionalization of Umingan Football club. This multi-disciplinary characteristic of the program is necessary in order for the stakeholders identified to align their individual strategies when tackling Dengue prevention in Umingan, Pangasinan.
