Summary: The purpose of this study was to determine the current nutritional status of 6 to 35 months old children in Barangay Pili, Pinamalayan. Oriental Mindoro. This research aimed to identify the factors contributing to undernutrition in the intervention barangay. And finally, positive deviant practices of the primary care givers with well-nourished children were identified and implemented in the intervention barangay. This study was divided into 2 phases: The first phase was a cross-sectional study estimating the prevalence of undernutrition among 6 to 35 months old age group at the municipal level. Barangay Pili with the highest pevalence of undernutrition was chosen as the intervention barangay. After reassessment of weight and height status, guided interview using positive deviance inquiry questionnaire were conducted with undernourished children to determine both successful and poor practices and observe hygiene and household environment. The second phase was an interventional study conducted among 17 undernourished children conducted among 17 undernourished children and their caregivers. A 12-day nutrition education, incorporating the identified positive deviant practices and rehabilitation sessions were conducted. for monitoring, surprise visits and weight and height measurements every 2 weeks for 6 weeks were conducted. Results of the this study revealed that undernutrition among 6 to 35 months old children in Barangay Pili remains to be for public health significance with 28.05% and 10.07% prevalence of underweight-for-age and wasting, respectively, in this age group. Moreover, it was found that primary source of drinking water has a significant relationship with undernutrition in the are.
