Another objective was to determine the behavioural and emotional changes experienced by the teenage mothers and lastly to determine the factors leading to such situation. Data were obtained through survey questionnaires, interviews, and group discussions. The result of the study showed that most of the teenage mothers had their first pregnancy at the age of 17 and even as early as 13 years old. It also showed that most of the respondents are engaged in sexual activities prior to their pregnancy and marriage and that they engage in unprotected sex. Most of their first pregnancy was also unplanned. Results further revealed that most of the respondents are dropped pit from school and that the number one reason is due to financial problems. Lack of knowledge on safe sex has ranked number 1 in the factors that leads to teenage pregnancy. Poverty can also be attributed to teenage pregnancy as well as early marriage. Recommendations on the full implementation of this APP as a strategy in reducing teenage pregnancy in conjunction with institutionalization and intensification of existing DOH program on ARH were formulated. These include quarterly monitoring and evaluation, capability building, and intensified census and profiling of ARH clients. Furthermore, the development of strategies could be strengthened through the support, active participation and commitment of the various stakeholders working together towards its sustainability.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
