Summary: Maternal Death remains a challenge in the health system globally. The World Health Organization emphasized that women die because of complications that develop during pregnancy and most of these complications are preventable and can be managed during pregnancy. In Davao Region maternal deaths has reduced to half in 2017 but in the province of Compostela valley 11 maternal deaths was reported in 2017 where 6 of these deaths came from the municipality of Pantukan. Further, 3 out of these 6 deaths came from Barangay Napnapan. Common findings to these women who died are they have inadequate prenatal care, 2 died of co-existing diseases at home and one died of hemorrhage. The study aimed to determine technical assistance package for the Barangay LGU to assist them determine the causes of low antenatal care visit and identify and implement the strategy to improve antenatal care visit coverage in Barangay Napnapan. The study used qualitative research methodology that looks into the percetion, ideas and opinion of pregnant women through Focus Group Discussion among women of reproductive age(15-49 years old), who delivered in the last 3 years and a resident of the study are for 3 years or more, Key Informant Interview with the barangay leaders, health workers and barangay health volunteers who have involvement in the implementation of the maternal care services and Records Review from the Barangay Health station, Municipal Health Office and hospitals. The causes of low antenatal care visit are Lack of knowledge on the 4 antenatal care visits recommended by the Department of Health; poor access to prenatal are services due to geographical location, distance, unavailability of transport and vehicle and its cost; problems with the health system like availability, quality and cost and sociocultural causes like household chores, seeking care with TBAs and waiting for pregnancy signs like fetal movement before initiating visits for antenatal care services. Thus, there is a need to identify and implement strategies that will answer the gaps affecting antenatal care utilization by pregnant women focusing on improving access in order to increase utilization of antenatal care in Barangay Napnapan, Pantukan, Compostela Valley.
