The Workshop on Public Information services for the Poor, held in Kathmandu, Kingdom of Nepal from 17 to 23 November 2005, focused on establishing community information centers (CICs), which constitutes Nepal's e-government program to complement its policy on poverty reduction. Thirty-one (31) participants from various ministries, training institutes and other public and private sectors discussed issues in providing public information services in rural areas; developed business plans for and identified policies in promoting public information services; and drafted proposals for establishing community information centers. - From the Book
