Introduction -- Chapter 1: The coming of US monopoly capitalism into the Philippines -- Chapter 2: The Philippine financial system -- Chapter 3: The banking liberalization of the 1990s -- Chapter 4: The political economy of international finance system -- Chapter 5: Recapitulation and prospects
This book presents the history and structure of the Philippine financial systems and the nature of US monopoly capitalism which has engendered it. The three phases of the development of the Philippine financial system from its colonial nurturing by US Capitalism, through the rise of the Comprador bourgeoisie in the 1960's and the greater integration of the system within global capital in the 1990's are traced and evaluated in the book. The last two chapters examine closely the dynamics of speculative capital and its growing dominance in international finance.
