Middle Managers' Class Batch 13 Thesis (MMC)--Development Academy of the Philippines. Summary: The Department of Education (DepEd) is responsible for providing quality, accessible, relevant and liberating basic education for all Filipino children from Kindergarten to Senior High School. This service provides them with the requisite competencies in terms of knowledge, attitudes, skills and values to become caring, self-reliant, productive and patriotic citizens of the country. In keeping with global educational landscape such as Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) integration and attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the Philippine educational system evolved and shifted from 10 year to 12 year basic education cycle with the additional two years presently known as the Senior High School SHS. After graduating from SHS, the learners are expected to be equipped with necessary competencies to either continue with higher education or immediately be included in the current work force. Therefore, work immersion is being incorporated into the curriculum as a requirement for graduation from SHS. SHS students are being immersed in an actual work environment such as cooperatives, business firms, and other industries to obtain hands-on experiences, employment simulations where they can apply their learnings in the world of work, entrepreneurship or further studies in college. The Re-entry Project (ReP) titled "Industrial Companies Readiness Tracking Hub to accommodate SHS for Work Immersion" is an innovative use of technology in tracking industries committed to become partners for the upcoming industry work immersion program for Senior High School Students for the School Year 2017-2018. This is the first attempt among DepEd Divisions to put in place a system in the work immersion program to minimize potential academe-industry mismatch. Hence, there is an urgency to implement the tracking hub starting second semester of the School Year 2017 where SHS students will commence their work immersion as there are still no identified potential partners to accommodate them. With the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) - Based tracking system, industries committed to partner with the ten SHS could easily submit the online survey forms indicating the contact person, sector where they belong, number of work immersion trainees that they could possibly accommodate as well as their desired schedules. On the other hand, SHS students had some options where and when they could be immersed for work immersion. This project is in collaboration with the Local Government of Mandaue City, Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce, Local Industry Partners and Department of Education, Mandaue City Division. This project was implemented last March 1, 2017 until June 13, 2017. Through the collaboration of DepEd with the local government units (LGU) and Mandaue Chamber of Commerce Incorporated (MCCI), it is expected that at least 75% of the students could be accommodated in the local industries. This project will also help in broadening the work opportunities of the youth as soon as they graduate from Senior High School Moreover, this project is in line with DepEd's Sectoral Goal and the Philippine Development Plan 2011-2016 of Inclusive Growth, that is sustained high growth, generates mass employment and leads to poverty reduction. Ultimately, this contributes to the Ambisyon Natin 2040 which represents the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years that describes the kind of life that people want to live, and how the country will be by 2040. There could be similar concepts and projects related to this ReP but within Department of Education the propsed project is one of a kind. The ReP implementation had undergone four stages/phases such as conceptualization and planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and project closure with corresponding expected outputs. All of the primary stakeholders benefited from this project, no matter how high or low their interests in the project may be. With the help of the well-selected ReP team with varied expertise, the risk management plan, the communication plan and other project management tools the project objectives and deliverables were achieved on time. Finding resources to fund this project was crucial in getting the project off the ground. With the assistance and guidance of the field adviser and the all-out support of the project sponsors, financial resources were adequate. As a result, there were 48 industries and 21 LGU partners committed to support the program. All of them had already signed up during the launching and unified Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) initiated by DepEd, Mandaue City. Thirty-nine of them were Division-initiated while thrity of them were school-initiated partners. Many important milestones happened during the actual ReP Implementation. To mention a few, the consultative meetings with the City Mayor, MCCI Executive Director and Board Members, and Industry Summit and Launching of the Industry Readiness Tracking Hub, the Division- and School- Initiated Unified MOA signing for SHS Work Immersion Program, and the Unified MOA Signing of LGU Partners. Capping the project implementation is the project closure, awarding and recognition of work immersion partners last June 13, 2017 at Big Hotel. The said activity was well attended by Industry Partners committed ti support the said program. There were six identified deviations, five significant challenges met and five lessons learned by the scholar in the implementation of her ReP. Sustaining this Industry Tracking Hub would be a great challenge to the ReP Core Team. To sustain the hub, there is a need to continue its good features and services, improve and enhance its implementation and nurture it for the future SHS students. To document what the scholar has learned of herself, her strengths and weaknesses, and her self-analysis, she designed a self-development plan towards becoming a better public manager after the ReP and after PMDP.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
