Summary: Tuberculosis (TB) has been a major public health problem in the Philippines for the past several decades. Research has shown that while TB is curable, the disease adversely affects a large segment of the population, particularly the economically productive sector. If left untreated, TB could lead to a disabling condition and even death. Also, partial treatment of cases may cause drug resistance that could lead to non-cure. Ranking 3rd in mortality and morbidity census of the municipality (eFSHIS, 2012), TB control efforts in the San Francisco, Quezon reflect a continuous struggle to curb the spread of a curable but highly infectious disease with a great implication on the productivity of people. Thus, this study works on the strengthening of National Tuberculosis Program of the municipality through deliberative dialogues with local barangay units and civic organizations in San Francisco, Quezon Furthermore, this study was conceptualized to increase the present rate of PTB case detection rates and initiation to treatment in the municipality and to develop a local policy for better implementation of the national tuberculosis program. Document analysis, focus group discussion and filed observation are used in this project to assess the current state of the NTP in the municipality. As a result, four main components were done in this project such as. (1) strengthening local political support; (2) improving the quality of TB-DOTS services; (3) Local financing for TB-DOTS implementation and (4) Public-initiated partnership with the private sector. However, there was no essentially TB-DOTS policy development and improvements through legitimate collaborative policy formulation drawn from local barangay officials, such as barangay captains and barangay kagawads. The study was successful in terms of increasing the case detection rate and number of cases initiated to treatment.
