BACKGROUND: the Department of health has crafted a framework giving premium on male involvement in reproductive health, this strategy is a good additional means for responsible parenthood since both parties are involved in deciding their method or choice and in turn able to properly space birth. Hence this new strategy USAPANG LALAKI which is an innovation in Sagay was developed aiming to increase contraceptive prevalence rate. The respondents are males not consenting for family planning whose female partner belong to reproductive age. RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS: Sagay has 2.107 women under reproductive age (15.5% of its population of 13, 615 in 2017), among whom 1.269 are sexually active. From this SWIRA population, 93 non consenting male partners were identified and were the respondents of this study. From this pool of 93 respondents, 81 eventually consented as to either considering or actual use of any modern FP methods. The current FP user as of 2nd quarter of 2017 user is 745. After the conduct of USAPANG LALAKI, there were new acceptors (n 81) added summing up up to a total of 826. This increased the CPR to 52.03 from 31.1% in 2016. SUMMARY: this strategy has increased the CPR by 11% from what it was in the previous year. Although it is still relatively low, this result is a positive development for FP in Sagay because it has been established that people can reconsider their position involving Family Planning once they are well informed as evident in 89% (81 out of 93) reconsideration.
