The seminar started with the presentation of country papers wherein the participants reviewed the recent development with regard to the condition of rural women in their respective countries. This was followed by the presentation of resource papers by selected experts and the conduct of field studies in Shizuoka Prefecture. The resource papers focused on the following specific topics: 1) Strategies and approaches in formulating education and training system for rural women; 2) Enhancing the productivity of women in rice farming through informal education and training; 3) Objectives and curricula for providing education and training systems to rural women; and 4) Farming women in Japan: past, present, future." -From the book.
