Retooling the development information staff to become NEDA's Knowledge Management Lead Unit / Omar O. Dumdum.
Description: 167 leavesSubject(s): Dissertation note: Public Management Development Program Batch 2 Middle Managers Class Thesis (MMC)--Development Academy of the Philippines. Summary: The mandates of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) revolve around the creation and dissemination of socioeconomic information and knowledge. While it is imperative for the agency to develop appropriate knowledge management (KM) strategies and practices, previous attempts to set up KM processes and systems have not been sustained. This Re-Entry Project intended to establish effective KM processes and systems within NEDA by retooling the Development Information Staff (DIS) to become the agency's KM lead unit. It sought to incorporate into DIS's work processes six KM components of knowledge generation, extraction, organization, packaging, sharing and monitoring its utilization. This intervention is expected to improve the public's access to NEDA information and knowledge, thereby expanding stakeholder involvement in NEDA's major services, and ultimately addressing social concerns through the development of timely, responsive and innovative plans, policies and programs. The ReP implementation delivered the following major outputs: (a) 1st semester 2013 DIS Performance Assessment Report; (b) Revised DIS Work Plan for the remaining months of 2013 up to 2015, incorporating the six M components; and (c) Signed NEDA Special Order attaching the Development Research Division to DIS and making it a key division in KM. In the process of delivering said outputs, heavy consultations were conducted with high-ranking NEDA Officials, NEDA Central Office Staffs, NEDA Regional Offices, and DIS. Other planned deliverables in the succeeding months include a KM Audit Report on knowledge needs of DIS stakeholders, a KM Framework for DIS anchored on the said Audit Report, and a NEDA Office Circular that would institutionalize the revised mandate of to include its KM function. Individual-level interventions through appropriate capability building activities on KM are also recommended for further action, thus enabling NEDA to become a knowledge organization.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Barcode | |
